I am not Catholic. The most refreshing thing I have heard in years came from the newly elected pope. He is quoted as saying, “Jesus is not ‘Superman'”.
Jesus is our all in all. He paid all the price for us so we can commune with Creator God, the ONE. He is not swooping in on his white horse to save your day.
The provision from Creator God is much better than our understanding of a super hero.
If you are in truth in good standing with Creator God, Creator GOD has provided all we need or want even before we know we want or need it.
Case in point: A few years ago, I wrecked my car because I was not happy with the car Creator provided for me. The name of the car was “Malibu” and for many reasons even the name flamed rage in me. It did not matter that everyone said its smoothe flowing lines and white color glistening in the sun was strikingly beautiful. The engine was in excellent order and could have should have been a good car for me for a very long time. But I was not grateful. I was much less than grateful. I hated that car. I cursed that car. I fought that car. Until one day I was distracted and I wrecked that car. I plowed into the rear end of a car sitting at a stop light that hit two other cars. My days in “Malibu” were over.
So…… for the next 18 months I had to rent a car and I even had to live in that car………until the grace from the car rental people came to an end. They wanted me to buy a car. I had no idea how. I had rejected the gift God gave me in the perfect white glistening “Malibu” car so I had to endure my punishment until I learned my lesson. It seemed like I was going to be left desolate. Thankfully I was wrong.
Creator brought me a new car. This one was a hybrid. I had no idea what a Hybrid car was. My car insurance branch manager sent me to a car dealership, to the very person she sent her best clients to so he could put them in a car. He was not there. The person who was working in his place that day came to me with the Hybrid. He said to me “this is the only car you can buy”. “This is your car. Lets go take it for a spin.” I
had no idea how wonderful that car was. In fact it was sooooooooo wonderful, it was a set up. I was not expected to be able to get it licensed. It had a crack in the windshield that made it uninsurable in the state where I had been living. They were going to keep the down payment that Creator God had MIRACULOUSLY provided to me the very same week the rental car people said they would not rent a car to me anymore. I had to buy a car.
I got the windshield fixed. I bought the car. I still had no idea why the message, “You have to buy this car. It is the only one you can buy. This is your car.” was so right on. And so important.
First thing I learned was that this car was a prototype. It had an early LEXUS HYBRID engine in it. This engine was made to last more than 500,000 miles and could easily go over a million miles. Wow.
Not only that, and even more importantly. A hybrid engine runs mostly off the battery. So the next winter when I found myself living in my car again, I had a car that could run the heater all day and all night and not use the gas engine to do it. Every few hours the hybrid engine would turn on the gas engine long enough to recharge the electric part of the car and it would keep me warm perpetually. I only used about a tank of gasoline every two weeks even with all the driving I did during the day.
Please hear me. I was at the end of my ….self. I had offended the almighty Creator GOD by rejecting his gift of provision to me in a perfect white Malibu car. He let me learn my lesson but he did NOT forsake me. He already had for me a car that was better than the Malibu because it was a Hybrid and the Hybrid engine was a provision for a need I could have never seen coming! I did not even understand how perfectly the Hybrid engine supplied my need until after I was past that and back into my new home. A mechanic told me about it.
Creator God is the only lover of our soul. Creator God knows what we are going to do before we do it. So nothing surprises Creator. And Creator God has already set the provisions in front of us. He even makes it so we have to do the right thing when we are not able to know how to take care of ourselves.
Whenever creator GOD sends a provision. DO NOT SAY I DO NOT NEED IT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU WILL NEED EVEN LATER THAT DAY.
We do not need Jesus to be superman swooping in to save the day. We have Creator GOD who takes care of our needs before they happen.
