I have been seeking the answer to “where is this Egypt we are not supposed to go to” …. since I first saw the passage as a child memorizing scripture at home. I have actually been trying to research the scripture passage for this commandment and Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance is not responding this morning online? I do have a hard copy of the original but I am not in that place to have access this morning. I will get it to you when that changes.
I did not get to sleep until after 1 pm this morning and was wide awake at 4:30 pm so I knew Creator wanted to talk to me. I opened up the Bible to Numbers 10. An apropos place to read since this is the story of Moses leading Israel out of Egypt after the passover….
In chapter 11 the Israelites are complaining about the manna they are being provided by Creator on their journey. Creator is angered by their complaining and fire consumes some of the outlying parts of the camp. Moses prayed to God and fires abated.
But the rabble among them had “a strong craving” and the Israelites wept again and said: “If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we used to eat for nothing; the cucumbers the melons, the leeks and the garlic but now our strength is dried up and there is nothing at all but the mana to look at.”
There is was. Right before me. The answer to my search of “what is this Egypt we are not supposed to go to?” !!!!!
How soon they forgot the slavery and the toil and the raping of their woman and the murders and whippings and building blocks without straw. Creator God had just rescued them with signs and wonders and show of power and might and authority and their fickle hearts turned back toward their oppressors……..
We are for sure in the tribulation of the saints spoken of in the Book of Revelation in the Christian Bible. Creator God has sent his Son in the person of Jesus of Nazareth to rescue us and save us from eternal death (separation from life) and bring us back into right standing and communion with the being who created all that is. That one LIFE whose character is LOVE.
The admonition from Creator God is ripped out of the heart of the one who made us to plead with us to stick and to stay with our first LOVE when we first met JESUS and saw our condition of separation from LIFE and took Jesus as our Savior and the blood of the lamb as our remedy, our bridge back to abiding in LIFE. Do not let the challenges we face in our every day lives cause us to curse Creator in our hearts so to sin against the blood of the lamb or to long for and desire the way it was….. and Lucifer and his second beast, finance, is about to put on a show of opulence and the decadence that can come with it……… and we are cautioned to guard our hearts and our mouths …….. do not turn back to the sin nature ….. the Egypt of our captivity.
There are very practical applications to this. In some areas where I have lived some of the people have a “card” a “credit card” or a debit card where they have unlimited access to groceries and clothes and their bills are paid. I have seen it demonstrated. I had a woman use it in front of me at a grocery store. She turned to me and asked if I had my “card”. I said no. I asked about a certain food I had not found in the store. I was told they did not have any…… a lie of course. She turned to me and said, “I already have mine.” And flashed the card in front of my face. I paid for my food with money I had earned and had in my bank account. And as I walked out of the grocery store there was an entire display of the food item I asked for.
Do not be deceived. Do not allow yourselves to be taken in by the lure of food and clothes and service and amenities. Do not let yourself complain to Creator that “I do not have that”…. Do not let your heart long for the way it was. Force yourself to look away if you have to. Stay grateful and remember your first love.
It will get harder before it gets better.
